Amen to that !  4-400s were too wimpy.  The worst thing about 833As was the non-linear load they presented to the driver, solved by the four 807 cathode follower audio driver.
Nope, 866As wouldn't cut it; 575s or 8008s or Wilkinsons required.

4-400s??? I wouldn't use them for any part of a transmitter. IMHO those manufacturers who switched to them made a giant mistake.  There is no reason not to use 833 modulators if that is what is in the final.
