I read "The Radio Boys at Mountain Pass" after I found it in the town dump.

 Methinks that got me hooked.

One of my sons recently gave me a copy of The Hardy Boys' "The Short-Wave Mystery" by Franklin W. Dixon. Interesting juvenile reading. But what got me interested in radio is when my dad would turn on our big Zenith radio on Saturday nights and we would all sit down to listen to "The Grand Ole Opry" from WSM, then "The National Barn Dance" on WLS, and sometimes "Louisiana Hayride" from KWKH and some border-blaster like XELO or XERF. I thought it was cool to listen to stations so far away.
