Been there too. We instead of digging preserved an area of interest on our
AM site in a deed covenent which requires compelete archeological research
if there are plans to develop that area. But we first had to have the area
researched by the local preservationists under the scrutiny of the state
historical society to even get to that point.

The property in the set-aside deed was an orignal homestead of the area
dating back to the early 1800's when the area was first settled. The
effort required surveying and a few other things to be included on the
official survey.

And yes, we needed to contribute to two tribes as well.

I would estimate for a one tower deal the added cost to be somewhere
between $10 and $15K if there is nothing there to deal with. If there is
something found, then all bets are off.
