[BC] Outside source for checking Modulation Levels

I know when I record something in Audition and play it back there are often serious variations in the length of the file based on the sound card used; leading me to believe it would not be as accurate - but burning a cut direct to CD should not have the same limitation.  Except the limitation of the playback device at that point, I guess... which would be the same limitation as playing the NAB CD as well.
