For those who have worked for private owners all their life, I shall introduce you to the way it works with a public owned company.
(1) You arrive at work and are greeted by a Pinkerton Guard.
(2) You are escorted into and out of the building to get "your" stuff.
(3) You are told that the company is closed and everything will be handled by mail.
(4) You go to the State Department of Employment Security and sign up for unemployment compensation.
(5) You go home and update your resume.
(6) Within seven days, your final paycheck will arrive (State law) along with the termination letter which starts with "Dear Sir or Madam...."
After that, the company ceases to exist. Web pages may stay up for awhile because there is nobody to take them down. Eventually, the telephone will no longer ring, but that may take months before TELCO decides that the bills are overdue.
If you go to the previous companies site, it will be empty, having been drained by the accountant's fire-sale.

The fact corporate is mum on the matter may indicate the final word isn't
