A few days back, the discussion turned to the "Kars for Kids" radio campaign, and how effortlessly the jingle drills a hole in your ears and takes up residence in your brain. Here is an effective way to block the commercial from becoming an earworm:

Next time it comes on, begin humming the refrain to "The Lullaby of Broadway" (preferably the Jerry Orbach version), memorized no doubt from countless viewings of Bugs Bunny cartoons in your youth. One song fits over the other as if applied by a veneer press, and the latter is much more pleasant to get stuck with.
