I use them as well, and carry some in the Explorer in case I need them. They are in a tote that I think of as the "critter prevention" tote. Other items in that tote are black, white and clear silicone for sealing up small holes in ATUs, rodent poison blocks and their housings plus moth balls (and plastic cups for the latter) to put in ATUs, a few rolls of good quality weatherstripping to replace rotting or missing weatherstripping on ATU doors, and expanding foam to seal up gaps too big for silicone. My philosophy is to prevents incursions as far as possible, and kill anything that does get in.
I have never had moth balls or the rodent poison blocks cause any problem in ATUs, but I think it wise to avoid chemicals in the presence of active electronics.
