That was a great spot! But those 3:00 spots were not the norm by any means. Remember that the Big Three would introduce the new models in September with those extended-length productions as a way of really grabbing viewers' attention. (And even those were reduced from the 30-minute extravaganzas of the late '50s - like Chrysler's "Forward Look" Dodge intro in September of '56).

But generally, I agree: creativity lacks more and more in today's spot breaks. The ones I dislike most are the matching :15-second "bookends" at the front and back of each break - those drive me nuts.
