I seem to look at POTS and AM as having the same issue, no one wants them anymore. (or very few). But POTS works from Co battery so power outages is not an issue, unlike digital phones. AM works with just about anything that can rectify Rf into audio, unlike digital receivers that are totally gone in power outage. I still have battery radios AM FM and the little 2-3" pocket analog TV's that run on AA batteries. They still get the analog LPTV's and ham TV on 70 CM band with just the whip antenna or a hand held gain antenna. I have a couple inverters that I clip to the van and tractor battery for some AC power to keep sump pump and a few necessities operating, LP tanks and a brush burner and stove for emergency heat, and gallons of bottled water. Just saying, feces happens and these basic items will keep you alive and informed. Or as Scotty said on a Star Trek movie, "the more sophisticated the system the easier it is to clog up the plumbing." Got my own well for water, septic systems to get rid of it. I can hold out for up to 2 weeks with the power on hand, and months worth of food on hand. Just saying "analog" works when all else fails.
