Hi Al,

I suppose one could laser cut a crystal such that it too could be excited by 
acoustic waves and provide some frequency modulation.  The Graphene FMO is 
too little too late.  :-)

We are now into the age of ones a zeros. It would be better to invent a nano 
structure transducer that could directly convert sound waves to digital data 
which would permit the manufacture of inexpensive but very accurate 
microphones whose signals would remain unimpaired after leaving its case. 
Today it takes a lot of silicon to build a USB mic or if you're looking for 
serious quality, a Neumann with AES output.
