Some trucks had the CV joint of the day.
It was a pair of U joints arranged back to back, to cancel the speed
variations inherent in a single joint.
A U joint is only CV when it is perfectly aligned, and then
unnecessary.
Any standard driveshaft had two joints, one at the transmission
and one at the differential.
The driveshaft taken as a whole, was a CV device,
but taken in parts was not at all. ( thus needed special "balancing"
which is actually very specific imbalancing )
There were a few of some vintage that only had a CV joint ( double U joint ) at
one end ( transmission ) to handle alignment variations going down the road,
and no joint at the differential.
Any drive shaft that has only one joint must have a CV joint, else
severe vibrations and eventual "structural failure" will result.
