You were surprised?  Why?  Guess I'm old and jaded in the BC Biz; nothing

Danger, death and mass destruction from horrible events draw people to the
boob tube, swell the audience and make spot rates soar, enriching station
owners and managers.  Re-read this email 50 times and don't be surprised by
anything in BC or Hollywood or national politics again.

suppose it was to balange the coverage of the Philippine disaster. When I
lived in Nebraska, right at the end of tornado alley, the almost-weekly
tornadoes got no coverage at all -- except when KFAB transmitting towers got
twisted together.
