May have found a tube socket--at a reasonable price. A new SK-712, which appears to have the same specs as an SK-700. We'll find out, price is more reasonable than the $6k from CPI/Eimac
This outfit has a bunch of 4CX300A's as well. As many will remember, that tube has been discontinued by Eimac & the design of the 10K does not lend itself to a sold state IPA replacement without completely rebuilding the transmitter.
They are in NJ--Electron Tubes for Industry www.elexs.com
Probably will go ahead with the purchase of a new transmitter, but this takes some of the pressure off. At the moment on a 1 kw Nautel V1--which, with 2 translators and a booster, gives us usable coverage. Unfortunately my other V1 is running another station in the market (with the notorious HT-10) & has 1 PA transistor down. My 3rd back-up--a BE ST-LP, is dead in the water because I sent the exciter card in for repairs, (It's supposed to work without it using an external exciter, but the built in logic says "NO!").
