Must have been a cool experience. I've done it from many states on cold,
clear winter nights. Wish they all ID'd with plain English, slowly without a
jingle. Apparently a lot of stations don't realize that "Smooth Jazz 98" or
"Kiss 104" aren't legal Ids
.
My SWAG is many of those foreign stations aren't licensed or coordinated by
their native 'FCCs' and they just go on the air and operate. I'll bet you
could set up a 100KW AM in Zapata, MX, and El Presidente down there could
care less. What do they care if they cause interference to American radio
stations? So long as our foreign aid checks cash....

There's a lot to be said in favor of strong law enforcement, and I applaud
our FCC for its efforts.

Regards/J

>Naive me, I thought stations world-wide were supposed to maintain their
assigned frequencies +/- 20 Hz. I also thought the 9 kHz channels
frequencies were carefully chosen so that there were no audible beats with
clear channel stations world-wide

 Cheers,
