Don't forget that the 9 kHz stations from Europe and Asia run much more
power than we do here.
I hear screaming hets on WLS from an Algerian on 891 kHz running 600 kW
from 0600-1800 their time.
With the 910 in Maine silent, the 150 kW signal from the BBC's 5 Live on
909 kHz is being heard by DX'ers in coastal New England. But the
hands-down winner is on 1521 kHz, where the Saudis put 2000 kW into a
6-tower array. Between them and a 500 kW China Radio International
outlet, WWKB gets blasted with a 1 kHz howl so loud that some nights
it's unlistenable.
