[BC] NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULE MAKING - Revitalization of the AMRadio Service

Last weekend, I spent an hour on a hilltop in Vermont near the MA,NH,VT border. I was as far away from power lines as one could get without travelling out West. On my Bose truck radio I could hear many long-distance stations fading in and out, just like the "good old days" --except. Must stations had beats of various frequencies as the 9 kHz spaced stations skipped in. There were also some Spanish-language stations that had 60 or 70 Hz beats against others and two French language stations that had 200 to 300 Hz beats.

Naive me, I thought stations world-wide were supposed to maintain their assigned frequencies +/- 20 Hz. I also thought the 9 kHz channels frequencies were carefully chosen so that there were no audible beats with clear channel stations world-wide

 Cheers,
