IMHO, the manufacturer is the highest of them. A few years ago I bought a
Dayton 120VAC fan motor to replace one that failed. It was an exhaust fan
for the tx shack. Within a week it, too, burned up. I bought it at a (then)
local Grainger outlet. That replacement failed after two weeks. I did an
autopsy and found NO grease at all on the bearing.

I showed it to the counter man. He did some research and told me on the
phone that this outlet had 17 of the same/similar motors returned within the
past 45 days. He thought they might be seeing a trend. REALLY? Dayton is a
generic Grainger brand. Grainger is excellent, however, Dayton is NOT. These
were all made in China. Just my experience, FYI.

>Have you tried to cross the old Baldor to a Dayton motor? Let me add,
>there are a number of variables which may or may not make a given motor
>suitable.
