Numerous AM properties were off the air mid-morning Saturday, all-news WNEW-FM blipped shortly around 6AM, and at least one radio network HQ in DC is reporting failure on its ISDN and phone lines.

Lightning and rain were not the issues -- the wind caused the most damage. Dulles Airport reported 71 mph winds, higher hurricane-like gusts were clocked elsewhere. This on top of the misery of 100+ degree days to come, with the prospect of no air conditioning or power to many neighborhoods.

It'll suck, but we'll be alright.
