I have a 4228 on my tower at about 80'. It's aimed to the Boston stations
at around 40 miles. The TiVo tuner gets all of them and shows in the 90%
signal strength.
It is very directional. I'm about 2 miles from the Providence market
stations. They show less signal level than the Boston ones. It's about 110
degrees from the front lobe.
The ChannelMaster bowtie antennas are quite good.
I also have tried a ChannelMaster CM-7777 preamp. Didn't make any
significant difference on this site.
FWIW, the new TiVo box is a most excellent tuner. I've tried a number of
other ones and it's as good or better than all. Also tried a PHD-8VX tuner
which was rather expensive. It was no better than the TiVo.
