Well, I live 15 miles from downtown, so *no* cable for me, and likely never ever will be in my lifetime. Satellite is so awfully limited in local stuff, and the offerings are just severely data reduced. Yeah, watch it on a 9 inch screen and you are fine but a large screen TV is horrid.
I can get some channels but I have a small UHF beam that has poor gain, and it's in the living room. I plan to get a Channel Master CM 4228 HD antenna and put it up aimed toward the GSP ( Greenville Spartanburg Market) and not worry about others. With a rotor I should also be able to get Augusta, GA, and do even off the back side of the beam when there is "enhancement". If I had satellite or cable, there's 5 PBS secondaries I would not get, and watch frequently. I get the NC Public TV station UHF (33) about 60% of the time and I'm 130 miles from the transmitter. I have NEVER seen WLOS-TV 13, yes 13, on the same tower. I will see and report back what I get when I get the telescoping mast and antenna.
