Not just the Berkshire mountains, but the state also has its mid-state bulge, topped by Mt. Wachusett and the Holyoke range near Rich's house.
There is no line-of-site beyond about 20 miles almost anywhere! Worcester City airport in Paxton, on the mid-state bulge is about 1,000 feet MSL and its only about 40 miles from the ocean! This blocks everything from the Boston area ---but WSRS-FM is on that ridge as well, on a bump called Asnebumskit Hill in Paxton. That station is listenable in all the New England states!
Cheers,
Richard B. Johnson

Robert Meuser asks: "I know you are in Western MA but how far are you from the Newton TX farm?"
Massachusetts may be small, but it ain't that small. Pittsfield (the westernmost city in MA) is over 80 miles from Newton, with a mountain range in between.
