Neal,

I echo what others have said about the tuning network being a PIA.  
Instead of another N connector, try a panel mount DIN or one of the 
Kintronic Labs termination sleeves to an in-line DIN connector.  Once 
you get your hands into that section of the box once, you'll never wish 
to do it again.

I'd much prefer a scope to verify waveform integrity.  The mod-monitor 
doesn't tell you anywhere near as much information.
