Not a big rig, but as a baby DJ doing all nights in 1973 at WEAM in Arlington, Va.(Washington DC) we had an RCA 5kw with the 10 kw modulator. Ed Buterbaugh (sp?) was the chief,
Audimax tube type RTZ, followed by Teletronix(LA-2) compressor into Gates Solid Statesman limiter with a Pultech equalizer to flatten the TX response, with the asymmetric audio relay that would flip while talking. Headphones fed by General Radio mod mon that would peg on positive peaks when the "news bug" was fired as a news story separator. Yeah, it was readings every 30 minutes, base currents at each tower with no modulation every shift, occasional groupies showing up in the middle of the night at the basement door....them were the good old days!
