For SX and GATES ONES :

A good test fixture is a resistor with a ground lead on one end and a  
lead with a 6 foot length of good insulated wire attached to a banana  
plug on the other

You want the resistor to pull the bottom of one of the four RF  
sections closer to ground  ( making it draw current and produce RF.

Total current for 1KW is 12 amps +-  so you want a resistor that will  
drop less than 1/4 th  that for testing ..... 3 amps.      I shoot for  
2 amps.

R=E/1   or 140 volts drop @ 2 amps or 70 ohms
power = I2R  so 2x2 x 70 = 280 watts   ( a pretty big resistor , but I  
found a couple of 200 watt 150 ohms in parallel works well.

For brief tests, a smaller wattage resistor will do.
