I would think that, due to the CAP requirement and
all the new EAS gear recently purchased, there
would be piles of used TFT 911s, now gathering
dust. Could the LPFM purchase a used 911 for a
very reasonable price, which would be much less
expensive than upgrading a 911D for two more
inputs? Some broadcasters might even be inclined
to donate one of their old 911s for such a cause.
A 911 would also be able to forward alerts.

"In going through the rules, I see nothing that
would prohibit summing two radios to one input,
and then using the second input of the 911D for
the CAP service with a converter, which may be
available.
Eventually they would need to buy the whole new
box of course.
Anyone else have this issue and try using this
stop gap. While I know a device must have two
inputs and two stations must be monitored, I dont
see where each source must have a discreet input.
I also thought I understood that LPFM will
eventually have to be able to retransmit alerts,
even if they do not originate alerts.
Note again, this is using the 911D, which is a
decoder only for LPFM and not fully applicable to
the bigger TFT devices nor fully participating
stations.
Thoughts?
