One thing that seems to be left out of the discussion regarding audio in the 1950-1960 era is the fact that the only
processing that you had on the transmitter was a peak limiter designed by general radio that was set at 3-5 db.
seems like Mr. Kahn built the level devil,then we went to the CBS products then to Durrough, Optimod and all of the rest.
My dad's station WAYR, 550 in Orange Park, Florida played classical music every day and it was very listenable. Of course
that is when operators actually adjusted audio levels.
