 There were/are a few.
 Maintenance, mostly.

 The "out of sight" philosophy has some merit.
 Elevated systems require regular maintenance.
 Cleaning insulators, tension on the wires, and they
 are exposed to other environmental damage.

 Buried, sure, eventually it'll "wear" out, but in today's
 short term world...
