Most folks are using the same directionals they have had up for 30
years.  In my apt. I have no outside access.  I've tried some
"digital" rabbit ears in various places, and might get a lock on one
channel or another, but never long enough to watch a program.  The $30
grey plastic flat thing from radioshack got nothing.

The upside is I have not seen Flo, the Progressive insurance lady, or
a Geiko ad in over a year!  I keep up with a few favorite shows on the
various network websites.  I watch 40 hours of PBS at work each week,
and that is plenty of TV for me.
