A big problem is the flat-screen TV sets that require at least 100 millivolts (cable signal level) to decode a signal. You need to use an external amplifier and, since they do not have AGC, they overload, generating gross-mod,  if you are 30 miles from a station and you want to receive one that is slightly lower in power.

I have also cut the cord, but OTA does not work here in my apartment
in the middle of the city of license.
