I've used Kaspersky for years. IMHO, the more effective a security system is, the more CPU cycles it uses and the more it slows a system down. I use fast enough machines (and XP Pro, which doesn't suffer from Vista/7 bloat) that the performance hit is endurable. You need to decide what compromise s you want to make between security and performance.
