Danny,
the only real problem I've had with a THE-1 is dust accumulation behind 
the blower. That may not seem like a big problem but it can be with that 
unit. The dust gets across the control lines and should the unit get 
exposed to high humidity, it causes the high-z power control line to 
throttle it down to zero output. A tropical storm revealed this problem, 
and I've seen it on a few other THE-1's since.

My recommendations area a very detailed cleaning, check or replace the 
power supply caps, and fix any specific problem.

Note, I only have one of THE-1's in service, and it's been in service 
since it was new in 1993.
