I believe in Dallas which all stations operated on 1240 kHz. The carrier were turned on and off with a 60 Hz. tone injected with the audio at a low level. The transmitters purposes overlapped for about 10 second at each switch time. I can remember hearing the hetrodynes of many stations on the same frequency during the Conelrad test in the early 1950's. At Wrr which was the key station for Dallas, we had one of those motorized switchers with a large drum and micro switches to turn the transmitters on and off randomly..
