I'd like to be able to select NAD 27, and get degrees-minutes-seconds. Just picked up a Magellan explorist GC which is lacking, and will probably go back to Frys tomorrow. Any suggestions are welcome.

With regard to NAD27, keep in mind that according to the FCC the internal
algorithm to convert from NAD83/WGS84 to NAD27 does not have acceptable
accuracy. See the footnotes to the Public Notice at the following URL:

http://transition.fcc.gov/ftp/Bureaus/Mass_Media/Databases/documents_collection/da88-316.html

Even though this Public Notice is from 1988, based on a phone conversation
I had with the listed contact person, Donald Campbell, in April 2009 it
still applies to "consumer" grade GPS's. Only the professional grade GPS
units (read costing multiple thousands of dollars) have sufficiently
accurate internal conversion routines.

Regards,

Alan
