Ironically, given that yesterday, it was announced that the owners of 
Pulitzer-prize winning newspaper the New Orleans Times-Picayune just 
laid off several hundred employees, WAAB originally was a New Orleans 
radio station and it went on the air on 8 April 1922, owned by the New 
Orleans Times-Picayune.
