[BC] Off Site Backup

Ask yourself when would you ever need to restore something from a backup?

(1) File got accidentally deleted.
(2) Hard disk(s) crashed.
(3) Everything was destroyed.

Only in (1) would Carbonite be useful. If you automatically performed daily incremental backups, Carbonite isn't useful. Furthermore, they (whomever they are) have your data.

When (3) happens, it might be caused by a fire or flood. It might also be caused by a big blob of the sun hitting the earth and causing electrical and electronic damage. This is going to take several weeks to repair and get the Internet functioning again. You need to duplicate your main system and keep it stored away and unplugged to handle this scenario. You can duplicate at monthly intervals and update with a DVD onto which you have performed daily backups.

I have seen the so-called studios of several so-called radio stations recently. The equipment often consists of a single PC and a cheap audio board designed for recording teenagers in their garage. This is not how to run a radio station, nor is Carbonite.

We are only backing up documents, not systems. Your point is valid if it was
for systems; I would not have even considered Carbonite.
