 I just give the surveyor copies of the drawings, and let him figure it out.
 He's the one signing off on it, after all.

 Well, yes.
 As the engineer signing off, I do try and make sure both I and
 the surveyor agree.

 Since we are required to install *exactly* according to the manufacturers
 instructions, I did once have to instruct a manufacturer as to exactly
 how *I* should be instructed to fix a problem.
 "Here's the problem, and here's how you instruct me to fix it."
