  When I first started in radio in Colorado  I had a hard time toning down
my news delivery, they couldn't understand my style was more "to the wall"
than they we used to.
One day the PD asked me to his office (which usually was not a good thing).
He asked me if I was familiar with Byron McGregor. I told him words to the
effect that lions tremble  in their dens when he spoke. That yes, CKLW was
my favorite station. Apparently he was up early that morning and snagged
them. I did adapt to a more MOR style but gads, boring. Sigh, my "curse" a
rock n roller at heart with a voice more suited to "adult" or classical.
But, hey, jobs were easier to find and keep.
