Hi Bill

Try to find a receiver with an RF gain for the AM. I have used a Sony ICF-SW7600GR or a Grundig YB-4000 at AM sites.. both have RF gain that allows for you to tame the overload yet still have enough gain to pick up other locals and some not-so-locals. They also have inputs of MW/SW antennas and a line output (via 1/8 in connector, there is a separate headphone output)

Radio Shack sells the Grundig S450DL, which also has line output (in the form of phono jacks) and RF gain for AM... not sure if the audio section would be immune from AM though....

At the WCBS/WFAN transmitter site we used a Panasonic car stereo with a line out to receive WINS (this was the doomsday plan.. get WINS on WCBS 880 in case the Broadcast Center had to be evacuated or was not accessible... now that they are all under one roof, that point is moot).
