David Kaye writes: "The reporter is taking the easy way out with the confrontation schtick instead of spending the time digging up more facts for the story."

Just gotta love all the assumptions here. How do you know there were more facts to be gotten? How do you know he didn't already have the facts he needed?

In fact, to take it a step further: How do you know the reporter didn't try to get the official on record at his office and kept getting the runaround? How do you know whether or not the "confrontation schtick" was the only way to get this official on the record?

If we had more reporters like this one, willing to confront public officials and make them accountable, I'd give up my decades-long refusal to watch TV news.
