Good journalism. The reporter was not abusive, pushy, demeaning, or demanding. He walked up to the man and asked a question. The official could have simply gotten in his car and drove away if he didn't want to talk.

When you become a public official, you are expected to deal with the public and the press in a, shall we say, dignified manner. You are expected to conduct yourself with a certain amount of respect and decorum. This public official did not.

And the reporter was correct to follow up on this, which he did in a non-confrontational way, at least IMO.

The story concerning the condition of the firehouses, according to the film I saw, was a legitimate one that needed attention.

My 3 cents' worth (allowing for inflation).
