This leads to a fundamental philosophical question: If we weren't all
sinners, would our economy crash?

Considering how much profit is made on the "fight against evil", you
have to wonder. If the demand for national defense, prisons, local
police forces, handguns, security systems, TSA personnel and scanners,
rehab, (and the list goes on) suddenly evaporated, what would be left
to do?

Exactly....but....

How does this make us any different then the old Soviet Union though? They did
many of the same thing we do now-and eventually fell over due to their own
bulk. Rather then pay cops $90,000 a year to write tickets, why not employ
scientists to design solar cars? Or employ two ditch diggers at 45,000 each to
dig ditches and build schools and bridges? Or employ more doctors and nurses
and build hospitals instead of prisons so every American can have free health
care as a birthright? Or pay for better teachers to teach the next generation?
The manufacturing base in this country has been flushed down the toilet,
replaced with this crap, which does *nothing* but cost money! At the end of
the day it adds *nothing* to our permanent anything. It's also blatantly
racist - African Americans make up about 25% of America's population yet 60+%
of those incarcerated are black.

We can (and must!) do better then this as a country!
