It's been nearly two decades ago, so my memory is now fragmented, but let me mention this:
BE FM-35; I can't recall exactly how its problem manifested, exceptbad functionality.
I was testing the drive with a wattmeter, which necessitated a jumper, which happened to be two or three times as long as the one in the drive circuit..
With the wattmeter in, it worked fine. so I replaced the original cable with my jumper and found that it worked fine that way, too.
Put original cable back in, no worky. Put my jumper back in, worked fine.
Couldn't find anything wrong with the original cable except that the xmtr would not work using it as originally installed.
AFAIK, my jumper is still in the FM-35...........
