Stop using Barix boxes. Anything from Tieline or Comrex is going to
work 100x better and require less bandwidth. I know that i can use my
Comrex with BRIC codecs from the middle of nowhere Alaska over a 3G
modem back to my station for a hockey game for 3-4 hours without a
single dropout.

The BRIC HQ1 codec uses about 60kb/s with 20ms of latency. Barix uses
VBR MP3, which is bandwidth heavy and simply unreliable IMO.

You get what you pay for. You go cheap, don't expect quality.
