Presumably, you tried the TX directly into the antenna...

With what results?  Could you make licensed power?

Also one of those obvious questions, did you replace the entire line 
between the TX and the combiner?  Triple-check the bullets, etc?

And finally from here - Is there a single-frequency backup antenna on 
the stick for either station?  You might need to get Dielectric out 
there for a check of the combiner, in which case having separate 
antennas, even if means running at reduced power, may be needed, at 
least temporarily.
