Our studios use these almost exclusively (Five stations). Over the years, we have had practically *all* of them develop intermittent problems, such as noise, distortion, dropouts, and low level. The problem(s) can be fixed by exercising the pushbutton switches on both the front and rear of the units. Sometimes it is necessary to exercise the rear panel "signal side-chain" jacks on the rear panel as well.
Spraying these with contact cleaner does no good. The problem still recurs.
This issue has been discussed here before. As best I can tell, there are no readily available replacement parts. So, first of two questions, does anyone have a parts source for these switches/pots/jacks? And what do *you* do to fix this problem when it happens?
Second question, Does the newer version of the 528E have higher quality components?
OK, might as well make it three questions. What mic processors are you preferring today, especially as replacements for the 528E?
