The Brown Recluse Spider is the one that destroys flesh.
<QUOTE>
Venom toxicity - the brown recluse venom can cause significant cutaneous injury with tissue loss and necrosis.</QUOTE>

The Black Widow is the one with the neurotoxin.
<QUOTE>
Only a small amount of venom can cause serious illness, as the poison attacks the nervous system. Systemic envenomisation usually results in headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, pyrexia and hypertension. </QUOTE>

Both have bites that can kill. The common "Daddy Long-legs" spins great webs that catch flies and do not even bite. They wait until their prey is dead in their webs and then suck them dry.

They are useful, friendly, and should not be feared. They will keep flying insects in check. I mention this because you should not just kill everything that you see at your transmitter sites unless you like horseflies, mosquitoes, wasps, and the other flying insects that they control.

Are you sure this wasn't a "brown widow" spider?
