Tom is referring to the late WLNG 1600 in Sag Harbor. It, and WQQW 1590 
Waterbury CT, were taken dark so WWRL could up day power to 25 kW. WLNG 
had a nice signal into Southern RI during the day.
The 1370 I was Chief Engineer of had its 110 foot tower and ground 
system in Wickford Cove. Being a tidal cove, the 500 watt licensed power 
was calculated for mean tide. The MW-1A hated the high and low tides,and 
would go into SWR trips. The signal, though, would be heard well out on 
Cape Cod, and a Portuguese-language program, based in Fall River MA, was 
a regular part of Sundays.
