[BC] Grounding by the sea

I had a client with a 500 Watt AM on 1600 kHz. The tower was about 20 feet
from Long Island Sound on two sides. It didn't carry very far, about ten
miles away it was quite weak. The ATU was in excellent condition, ground
radials were intact and also in the water. I could, however, hear the
station in Danbury, CT. This was a good thing since my AM there is on 800
kHz! The path from the former station (bought out by a NYC station and
turned dark for a power increase) to CT did cross over Long Island Sound.

>It should still be much greater than 40 miles.
