[BC] water as the enemy

This has nothing to do with any emergency I have, just some things I saw at CES.

Has anyone recently dealt with a cell phone (theirs, family, co-workers') that was
dropping in water?   Other portable electronics?

The reason I'm asking is that one of the items I saw was a packaged dessicant,
designed to dry out such devices safely.

I've never had a neeed for something like this, but wonder if any of you find it
to be an occasional, routine, or totally unusual situation.
