He has the older ART (the one the MPPS replaced). His does not have the
meters, otherwise it is identical. You do need some good 12AX7s though; he
found NOS GE ones on ebay for10 dollars shipped.
I have a headphone amplifier with a 12AU7 that I listen to music with most
every night (see "The Cheap Channel" on The BDR). Nothing can touch it for
under 500 bucks-and it cost me 50.
Mark Humpfrey borrowed it for a while and concurred that it sounds great, and
he also put a GE 12AU7 in it for me.

Is that the ART Tube MPPS or something else? Yes, I was looking at the MXL
2003A as it is quiet and within my price range but the polar pattern didn't
look all that great for my application. I can see where it would be great on
pipe organ, though.
